It’s not the grandstand final we initially envisioned, but the 5th Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground could still deliver the best of The Ashes 2025/26. No matter how you put it, it’s a series that never really got off the ground. The 1st test was completed in two days, the 2nd was just over three, the 3rd almost completed the distance before the 4th gave us another two days.

They have won 22 Tests at the SCG – more than they have won at the WACA, Gabba and Adelaide Oval combined – making it their happiest hunting ground on Australian soil. That said, the last of these victories was in 2011, and the tourists have won two of their last 10 on the field.

Given that only one wicket fell on spin in the aforementioned Indian Test, it appears that this is the case for any late fluke for the Magicians. With Nathan Lyon sidelined with a hamstring injury and Shoaib Bashir out of favor, it would be up to Todd Murphy and Will Jacks to succeed against all odds.

Read on as we explain how to watch the 5th Ashes Test between Australia and England from anywhere in the world, including free options.
