If you are a fan of Gary Veethen you have already listened her first episode on The HIM & HER Showread this blog postand know that Lauryn literally started this blog while she was reading her book Crush it!
And if you’ve never heard of Gary Vaynerchuk, he’s a serial entrepreneur, best-selling author, and CEO of a global creative and media agency. VaynerMedia. Known for his unfiltered business, marketing, and mindset advice, Gary has built his career by spotting cultural and technological shifts early. He was an early investor in Facebook, Venmo and Twitter and now he’s helping us through the AI movement.
Through his content, he helps people embrace change, adapt, and use new tools to their advantage.
What’s a new digital tool that improves people’s careers while terrifying others? AI.
If you listen Gary’s last conversation with Lauryn and Michaelyou’ll hear him talk about how the digital world has evolved over the years: computers, the Internet, televisions, electricity (people were afraid to bring it into their homes!), and EVEN our own Lauryn and Michael. Stay with us…
Gary explains that even Lauryn and Michael starting a podcast and media company is taking away from people with careers in radio. That’s just life, that’s evolution, and that’s how the world has always worked.
Before we share some of Gary’s tips for using AI to your advantage, instead of being afraid of it, let’s take a look at exactly what AI is.

What is AI?
AI stands for ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. It is a technology that can be used for tasks and jobs that typically require human intelligence. Think: writing, sifting through data, finding patterns, compiling information from all over the internet, etc. AI systems are intelligent, learn from data to evolve and improve, and are focused on automation and efficiency.
It is important to note that at this stage this is not a substitute for human creativity or judgment. If you’ve used ChatGPT or another platform before, we can bet that you took care to fully read her response, check the facts, and probably rewrite some of what she provided. It’s not perfect. Amazing? YES! Perfect? Not yet.
Even if you’re one of those people who says “I don’t use AI” or haven’t used a platform like ChatGPT, you’re still using AI.
Some of the everyday systems within our reach that use AI without us knowing are:
Maps to calculate traffic in real time and predict the best routes.
Streaming platforms like Netflix, when they suggest your next binge.
Your camera rolls when you search for “trees” and all your tree photos appear.
Customer support chatbots that can respond to you at any time of the day.
Now that we know what AI is, let’s look at why people are so afraid of it. First of all, we are afraid of what we do not know. On top of that, the biggest fear is redundancy, being left behind in a rapidly changing world, a world that lacks creativity, intelligence, decision-making, and the lifelong skills that shape every chapter of our lives.
The fears are real, a little sinister and completely understandable. But you can make the decision to change your mindset and learn, adapt, and thrive with AI.
Here are Gary Vee’s tips for using AI to your advantage.
Adapt and Thrive with AI
See AI as an evolution, not a threat
As you can hear in the episode, Gary compares AI to electricity or the Internet. Both of these things were once feared by the vast majority and are now something we simply cannot live without.
Try to stay open-minded, curious and adaptable to these changes in our world. We cannot resist such significant changes beyond a certain point. Just because you’re afraid of it doesn’t mean it will cease to exist. Try joining us and think about ways it could benefit you.
Instead of dreading AI taking your job, think of it as something that can help you learn faster, complete your tasks faster, get more done, and improve the position you’re in. Show superiors that you agree by using it as a tool and make yourself even more valuable.
LEARN
Using AI is a skill. The more you do it, the better you can use it to your advantage. There are entire courses on how to use AI correctly! Set aside time to learn more, either on your own or with the help of a guide.
You can use ChatGPT without creating an account, so visit the site and play around. Recently, Lauryn used ChatGPT to remove unnecessary things from her day. She tells him what’s on her calendar, what’s most important to her during the day, and he reschedules while deleting what doesn’t serve him. She said it changed her life.
It’s better to be curious and willing to learn and experiment than to become an expert. You don’t need to become an AI master with million-dollar business ideas to use AI. Use it to help you plan meals and do your shopping, think of free activities for your kids, or learn a new skill.
It supports, it does not replace
Gary explains that AI is best used as an assistant, so think of it that way.
AI does not replace human creativity, emotional intelligence, or even tact and taste. We need you for that!
Use AI with your own thoughts and perspectives to create something wonderful.
For example, if you’re looking for the best way to simply articulate a complex process, use your AI platform to organize your thoughts and make them accessible to someone else.
It gives you more of something we all want: TIME
Whether it’s spending time with loved ones, relaxing, reading or exercising, or spending time to be first to business opportunities and “arrive early” (like Gary), AI is your benchmark.
For businesses, Gary praises AI for the speed with which it can create, test, implement and adjust. Instead of spending hours on one task, AI can help you do everything faster.
Use it to generate multiple ideas in minutes, discover the best version for a given platform. And when it comes to mundane tasks that it makes sense to outsource? Use AI.
Ladder
Growing a business used to require huge budgets and huge employees, but that’s no longer the case. Creators, brands, and entrepreneurs can scale by using AI to facilitate customer service, marketing content, scheduling, meetings, and data analysis.
Simply put, AI can save you hours of manual work.
Know that YOU still matter
Gary shares that while AI can generate content, it doesn’t understand culture, context, or nuance like you do. Sure, it can give you hundreds of amazing ideas, but it’s still you who has to differentiate what will work using your judgment, skills, and experience.
For example, AI can easily generate trends, ads, and content for your brand, but only you know what fits your vision and audience.
Remember, action trumps perfection. Gary says the biggest mistake people make is waiting until you “get it.” Play, experiment, and adjust accordingly. You’ll figure it out in no time.
And like we said, start small. Use it to help you with a small task like planning your family’s meals, or think of something you’ve always wanted to learn and ask it to start teaching you.
