Timothy Busfield — accused of child sexual abuse — has a strong moral compass and is universally loved by his professional colleagues…so his wife says, Melissa Gilbert.
The “Little House on the Prairie” star vehemently defended her husband in a letter to the judge overseeing his case as the court debated whether or not to allow him out of jail before his trial.
In the letter, MG describes Busfield as his “love” and his “rock” in business and in life…adding that he is the “beating heart of our wild and wonderful extended family.”
She then writes that she knows Busfield more intimately than anyone in her life… and that he “has the strongest moral compass of any human I have ever known.” She adds… “He dedicated his spiritual being to always being of service to others. He begins each day with kindness and compassion.”
To demonstrate his kindness and compassion, Gilbert says he’s heard several people he’s worked with say that he was their favorite director… and tons of former students have also sung his praises in public.
She also details Busfield’s relationship with her son, Michael Boxleitnerwhom he has “nurtured and guided” since his boy was just a teenager.
Speaking of Michael, he also wrote a letter of support to Timothy… describing him as a “hero” – showing up for him more often over the past 15 years than his actor biological father. Bruce Boxleitneralways did.
Boxleitner praises Busfield’s “unwavering integrity” and asserts that there is “no man on this earth more worthy of respect, kindness and care in [Michael’s] eyes.”
As you know… Busfield handed over to the authorities in New Mexico earlier this week after a a warrant had been issued for his arrest – who claimed to have sexually assaulted two children on the set of “The Cleaning Lady”.
Busfield has denied all allegations against him…and he is currently held without bail.
