Gregory’s Foods Frozen White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie Dough was mistakenly filled with Monster Cookie Dough, which contains peanuts. The Food and Drug Administration announced that a recall of cookie products has been reclassified to its most serious risk category due to the potential presence of undeclared peanuts.

Gregory’s Foods first issued a recall last month of its 2-pound, 8.5-ounce packages of “Bag Full of Cookies” frozen white chocolate and macadamia nut cookie dough after learning that some packages were mistakenly filled with Monster Cookie Dough, which contains peanuts.

“People with peanut allergies are at risk of serious or fatal allergic reactions if they consume these products,” the FDA said in its statement at the time.

The FDA then announced Wednesday that the recall had been reclassified to Class I, its highest level of concern. A Class I recall means that there is a “reasonable probability that use of or exposure to [the] the product will cause serious adverse health consequences or even death.

The recall involves more than 300 cases, with six bags in each case. The products concerned have an expiry date of December 6, 2026.
