European Union countries on Monday gave final approval to the bloc’s plan to ban imports of Russian gas by the end of 2027, allowing it to be signed into law. The policy makes the EU’s pledge to cut ties with its former “main gas supplier” legally binding, almost four years after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
