Trump sends Tom Homan to Minnesota to manage ICE after Alex Pretti killing

The Trump administration’s border czar Tom Homan will travel to Minnesota to manage U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field operations there following the killing of Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis, the president said. Donald Trump and the White House said so on Monday.

“Tom is tough but fair, and he will report directly to me,” Trump said in a statement. Truth on social media.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in another social media post that Homan would coordinate with officials leading ongoing investigations into fraud schemes in Minnesota.

Trump’s message indicates that Homan was never involved in Minnesota, where thousands of federal agents have been deployed in recent weeks to implement the Trump administration’s aggressive deportation program.

Two American citizens were killed in Minneapolis in less than a month during altercations with federal agents.

Renee Nicole Good, 37, a mother of three, was fatally shot by ICE Agent Jonathan Ross on January 7 as she began driving her SUV after another agent ordered her to get out of the car.

On Saturday, Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse in a Minneapolis intensive care unit, was shot and killed by federal agents.

Both killings took place in broad daylight in front of witnesses and were filmed from multiple angles, significantly intensifying the already intense scrutiny of immigration agents’ tactics and training.
