Although a basic TEFL certification is sufficient for most teaching jobs abroad, having an advanced certification can be useful if you plan to apply for more competitive positions.

The TEFL Institute of Ireland offers three Level 5 TEFL training courses. The 180-hour course will introduce you to the fundamentals of becoming a teacher and best practices for your classroom.
This course alone will prepare and qualify you for many teaching jobs abroad, but if you want to learn more about other specializations, there are two other courses to consider.
The 240-hour course includes the entire 180-hour TEFL course plus additional training for teaching English exam preparation.
