Why Prince William thought his uncle was ‘ignorant’

William reportedly always had strong opinions about his uncle, Andrew, long before his recent public ridicule due to his arrest.
The claims come from royal publisher Russell Myers in his new book “William and Catherine,” which explores how the Prince and Princess of Wales navigated the turmoil surrounding the House of Windsor in recent years.
According to Myers, concerns about Andrew’s conduct inside the palace walls existed long before his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein became public.
Drawing on conversations with palace sources, Myers writes that William was never particularly impressed by his uncle.

The Prince of Wales didn’t like the way his uncle treated palace staff
According to Myers, the future king “had a real problem with the way Andrew treated his staff.”
William reportedly disapproved of what he perceived as an entitled and dismissive attitude, qualities he and Kate work to avoid in their own household.
“They strive to create truly healthy and enjoyable work environments for the people who employ them,” Myers noted.
He continued: “They are very respectful of the people they work with. Just look at the amount of time people have stayed and worked within their household.”

Prince William was reportedly urged to act against Andrew years before he was stripped of his titles
Tensions reportedly escalated after Andrew’s widely criticized 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, in which he attempted to explain his relationship with Epstein. The interview received significant backlash for failing to show remorse towards Epstein’s victims.
According to Myers, Prince William believed that decisive action was necessary to protect the monarchy from damage to its reputation.
He reportedly urged his father and grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, to steer the institution away from Andrew, warning that failure to act could harm the royal family’s reputation.
He reportedly argued that Andrew “must be banished before the rot sets in.”
Although Andrew continued to deny any wrongdoing, public scrutiny intensified and multiple investigations into allegations linked to him followed.

Myers added that “it was not until six years later that King Charles finally took this step of stripping him of his title, his honors and exile from public life.”
King Charles and his heir clashed over Andrew and the future of the monarchy
When Charles III ascended the throne in 2022 following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, pressure mounted to resolve what insiders called “the Andrew problem.”
According to royal observers, Charles and William did not entirely agree on how the matter should be dealt with decisively.
Charles, who felt a lingering duty to his younger brother, seemed inclined to a cautious and considered response.
William, however, has been described as tougher, prioritizing the future stability of the monarchy and public trust over family sensitivities.
Myers wrote that if “William had succeeded, then the royal family could certainly have been at the forefront many years ago.”

Prince William admits he’s not in a ‘calm’ state of mind
Amid these tensions, William and Kate are also reportedly worried about the impact the ongoing controversy could have on the king, especially as he undergoes treatment for cancer.
Royal commentators said Fox News Digital that the couple’s concern is understandable, especially since public approval ratings have reportedly plummeted due to how the palace has responded to renewed scrutiny of Andrew’s past associations, including his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
The Prince and Princess of Wales made their first public appearance since Andrew’s arrest at the British Academy Film Awards, where William is chairman of the BAFTAs.
During the event, William admitted he was not in a “calm state.” When asked on the red carpet if he had seen the historical drama “Hamnet,” directed by Chloé Zhao, he said he would prefer to watch it when he was in a quieter free space.
