  • Peloton activities can now be synced with the Garmin app
  • For months you could only sync data the other way
  • This should give you a better understanding of your health and fitness.

If you use both Garmin and Peloton devices during your fitness activities, we have good news: Products from both companies now sync in both directions. And it makes recording your workouts and tracking your activities much easier than before.

This means that if you record a workout with one of the best Garmin watches, it will sync with the Peloton app. And if you record a session on a Peloton device, it will also arrive in your Garmin app. Regardless of your equipment configuration, the two systems should now communicate correctly.

This was not always the case. When Garmin and Peloton first announced their partnership last year, you could only send Garmin activities to the Peloton app — syncing didn’t work the other way. This left some users frustrated that the devices seemed to align in only one direction. Everything has now changed.

Although synchronization can be done automatically, you also have some control over the included activities. You can choose from bike bootcamp, cardio, cycling, meditation, rowing, rowing bootcamp, running, strength, stretching, treadmill bootcamp, walking, and yoga. The system allows you to transmit information in one direction or both directions as well.

Several statistics are integrated into the synchronized data, such as cadence, calories burned, distance, power (measured in watts) and speed. The name of your class instructor is also included.

Fortunately, this change isn’t blocked by the controversial Garmin Connect+ subscription service. Garmin users are increasingly worried about the company moving features to its paid service, but you apparently won’t have to worry about what’s happening with Peloton syncing.

This also means no need to use a third-party sync service to ensure your Peloton data is sent to your Garmin app. Alternatives like SyncMyWorkout have emerged to fill this gap, but they incur ongoing costs. With proper synchronization between Garmin and Peloton now in place, this additional expense is no longer necessary.
