B-52s tear apart Texas Republican senator John Cornyn for using their famous song to attack his political opponent.
Cornyn’s campaign on Tuesday dropped a political attack ad using AI-generated content to attack the Texas attorney general. Ken Paxton and its sex scandal… the 80-second ad is a parody of the B-52’s hit, “Love Shack.”
In a statement to TMZ, the band said… “Today we learned that our song ‘Love Shack’ is being used without our approval in a political attack between two politicians in the great state of Texas. We do not support either candidate. We have already formally demanded that the song immediately stop being used in this tasteless and illegal manner.”
The statement continues… “B-52s have always represented love and inclusion among all human beings. The ‘Love Shack’ symbolizes a ‘place where we can come together.’ All people, regardless of their ethnicity, gender, age and also regardless of their politics. Our music is and has been for almost 50 years a story of love, inclusion, positivity and mutual respect. »
Members of the B-52s Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider, Keith Strickland And Cindy Wilson signed the declaration.
Cornyn and Paxton are engaged in a nasty Republican runoff election in Texas…and the attack ad makes Paxton appear to be having affairs with two women. IRL, Paxton’s wife is divorcing amid adultery allegations.
President Asset did not support either candidate.
