When Cyberpunk 2077 First launched in 2020, few could have predicted what a monumental experience it would become. After a disastrous arrival, developer CD Projekt Red deserves credit for sticking with the game and updating it repeatedly, to the point where it’s now comfortably one of the best RPGs of the last decade or more.

The exit of Phantom Freedom Downloadable content only further solidified this legacyand it showed that there was a lot more potential for storytelling in the world they created for the game. Unfortunately, it looks like that won’t be a reality anytime soon, if new revelations from the proverbial horse’s mouth are to be believed.

It’s the end of an era Cyberpunk 2077

As first reported by Eurogamer, the developer responded directly to a fan inquiring about the potential arrival of future DLC, and it’s not good news.

“We have no plans for additional DLC or expansions,” the developer said. declared. “If anything changes, we will let you all know!”

These questions have been raised due to the increasingly loud rumors surrounding the potential release of a new story DLC for The Witcher 3more than ten years after this game’s initial launch. It is meant to bridge the narrative gap between this game and the upcoming sequel, which is expected to have a new protagonist, Ciri, for the first time.

However this game is undoubtedly the developer’s priority right now, with over 400 staff members working on it by the developers own count in October 2025, that doesn’t mean new and very secret Cyberpunk goodies couldn’t be on their radar either.

Can we really believe CD Projekt RED?

The big proof that CD Projekt Red might be telling the truth this time is that they are also working a lot on the direct sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 right awaywith 96 developers producing this, again according to the same count published by the studio in October last year.

Since there is no need to bridge a narrative gap in the same way as The Witcher 4 demands, it would make sense if they just put all their eggs in the sequel basket from now on.

Although it would be disappointing not to get one Cyberpunk 2077 releases are moving forward, if that means we get our hands on the all-new sequel sooner, then that’s a significant consolation and a sacrifice many would be willing to make.
