Din Djarin and his adopted son battle multiple antagonists in their next adventure in The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Disney releases new trailer for The Mandalorian and Groguconfirming the film’s villains. Seven years since Star Wars sequel trilogy wrapped with The Rise of Skywalkerthe galaxy far, far away, is ready to return to the big screen. This time, their return is led by the duo who launched Disney+ in 2019. As Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni take the iconic father-son duo from TV to the big screen, marketing for the film is ramping up as its premiere approaches.
After a lukewarm attempt to sell the film, including the odd The Mandalorian and Grogu Super Bowl commercialDisney and Lucasfilm made an effort to properly promote the film with the release of its second trailer. Its images offer a better overview of the main character, his new allies and enemies. While specific story details of the film remain unclear, it’s clear that it will be action-packed, as Din and Grogu encounter various species.
In the last The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer (via Star Wars/Instagram), Disney and Lucasfilm confirm the multitude of antagonists that the couple will face. In the clip, Din introduces them: “Gangsters, war criminals and monsters.” In previous promotional clips, The Mandalorian has only listed the first two. Watch the full clip below:
To think the couple has been through so much since Lucasfilm premiered in That of Pédro Pascal The Mandalorian a show on Disney+ would be an understatement. Given this, they’ve also had no shortage of villains during their journey as a duo, and while each time they’ve found unexpected allies to help them, there seems to be an effort to focus on the pair as an entity wandering the galaxy for a job, as they were hired by Sigourney Weaver’s Ward, who is the leader of the Adelphi Rangers of the New Republic.
What is curious now is if The Mandalorian and Grogu will feature one of these villains who have a personal vendetta against one or the other. As seen in the aforementioned trailer, it appears that every dangerous encounter they have in the film will be due to their new job sifting through the remaining Imperial warlords after the fall of the Galactic Empire. It would be disappointing if the conflict in this movie was all about jobs for Din and Grogu. Under normal circumstances, this would have been a solid overall narrative for the couple, but not for a film meant to be the big climax to their story. Star Wars history.
Star Wars doubles down on its oldest Disney+ issue in The Mandalorian and Grogu
As The Mandolorian and Grogu prepare for their big screen debuts, Star Wars is doubling down on its oldest Disney+ issue ahead of its premiere.
It’s no secret that there is immense pressure to The Mandalorian and Grogu to succeed. As Disney and Lucasfilm set to reboot Star Wars‘ storytelling on the big screen, it’s still extremely important to set the tone with their return to cinema after seven years. The film will also mark the first summer blockbuster from the galaxy far, far away since Solo: A Star Wars Story flopped in May 2018. Hopefully The Mandalorian and Grogu meets expectations when it hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
