A good shower can be more than a quick rinse: it’s a reset. Some days it’s a five-minute refreshment before (or after) work. Other days, it’s a full-blown “shower it all” moment, complete with hair masks, scrubs, and body oils. Either way, it’s worth making your shower a ritual.
Over the years, our team has tested a plot of shower products, from drugstore staples to spa-level splurges. These are the ones that make our showers a time worth enjoying, and the ones we truly redeem.

Necessary Shampoo with Rosemary & Conditioner
Camille Styles, founder and editor-in-chief
Why I like it: Nothing feels more luxurious than massaging this rosemary shampoo and conditioner into my scalp. It’s nourishing, refreshing and instantly transforms my bathroom into a spa.
Ideal for: Refresh the scalp while providing softness and shine
Colleen Rothschild Renew & Replenish Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner
Isabelle Eyman, Editorial Strategist
Why I like it: This duo gives me that fresh salon feeling every time I use it. Eucalyptus and rosemary instantly wake up my scalp, while the formula clarifies without leaving my hair dry or squeaky. I have struggled with oily hair for years. It’s finally the solution that keeps my hair soft and hydrated without any greasy finish.
Ideal for: When Your Hair Needs a Complete Reset
Pattern Beauty Palo Santo Leave-In Conditioner
Langa Chinyoka, beauty editor
Why I like it: It can be difficult to find hair products that don’t smell like artificial flowers. This leave-in is my favorite for a high, light Palo Santo scent. And of course, it makes my hair incredibly soft and easy to detangle.
Ideal for: Soft hair, subtle scent
Dae Violet Hour Purple Shampoo
Kristen Garaffo, editor-in-chief
Why I like it: Last summer, I decided to go blonde (brunette!). I’m convinced that one of the reasons I still get compliments on my blonde hair is because of this shampoo. Purple shampoo helps reduce brassiness and is totally effective.
Ideal for: Color maintenance
Shaz and Kiks Turmeric Shampoo
Suruchi Avasthi, food editor
Why I like it: I’ve loved all the hair care products I’ve tried from Shaz and Kiks, but this Moisturizing Turmeric Shampoo is one of my all-time favorites. It leaves my hair so soft and hydrated, while helping to leave my scalp feeling fresh and clean.
Ideal for: Hydrate your hair with the power of Ayurvedic ingredients
Corpus Naturals Cypress Shampoo
Anna Decker, Head of Social Media and E-Commerce
Why I like it: I love this shampoo for the way it makes my shower routine a little elevated. The cypress scent is fresh and earthy, and it leaves my hair feeling really clean without that stripped feeling. It’s one of those small improvements that makes a daily ritual more intentional.
Ideal for: Fresh, shiny hair that smells really good
Roz Foundation Duo
Brittany Chatburn, Director of Content Marketing
Why I like it: I really believe Roz changed my hair. Mine is long, thick and straight and tends to build up easily. The first thing I love about this duo is the scent: it’s sophisticated and nature-focused, like a mountain spa. But what keeps me coming back is how clean, healthy and smooth my hair feels. Styles and shine last longer. And this product too, by the way. One set lasts me almost 8 months, washing 3-4 times a week.
Ideal for: Daily hair care with the scent of mountain springs
Trader Joe’s Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Hair Mask
Brittany Chatburn, Director of Content Marketing
Why I like it: This hair mask is my favorite drugstore product (if you will). If you know, you know. It’s a holy grail for revitalizing and nourishing tired strands. I use it once a week with my sea salt scalp scrub, and the duo is unbeatable.
Ideal for: Silky, soft, deeply conditioned hair
The best shower products for scalp care
Mielle hair oil
Tatom Hoffman, Marketing Intern
Why I like it: I’ve been using Mielle’s Rosemary Scalp Strengthening and Strengthening Hair Oil as a pre-shower treatment recently, and it’s become one of those simple rituals that makes a noticeable difference. I comb it through my hair and let it sit for about an hour before showering, and every time I rinse it out, my hair feels so soft, shiny and healthy. It has that minty, cool scalp feel that I love.
Ideal for: Healthier, shinier hair
Christophe Robin Purifying Cleansing Scrub With Sea Salt
Brittany Chatburn, Marketing Director
Why I like it: I have been looking for a product for a long time that reduces buildup and nourishes my scalp. For several months, this purifying scrub has been the star of my weekend hair routine. You only need a little (I’m talking about a teaspoon) and it lathers up beautifully to rebalance the oils, exfoliate my scalp, and leave my hair clean and purified for days.
Ideal for: Weekly scalp care and clarifying treatment
Bondi Boost HG Clarifying Pre-Wash Treatment with Lactic Acid and Rosemary
Anna Decker, Head of Social Media and E-Commerce
Why I like it: I love using it when my scalp needs a little reset. It feels really fresh and clean to the roots and helps remove buildup without being harsh. This has become my go-to product when my hair just isn’t feeling its best.
Ideal for: Give your scalp the deep clean it craves
The Best Body Cleansers and Scrubs
Salt and stone shower gel
Camille Styles, founder and editor-in-chief
Why I like it: This shower gel (saffron and cedar) is my new addiction: it makes the shower feel like a spa.
Ideal for: Bring a coastal feel, just back from the beach, into your routine
Saltair Pink Beach Body Wash
Isabelle Eyman, Editorial Strategist
Why I like it: Some body washes are purely functional, but this one feels like a little vacation every time I use it. The scent is warm and beachy without being too sweet, and the formula leaves my skin noticeably softer as soon as I step out of the shower. It has that silky, serum-like texture that makes your entire routine feel like a (much cheaper) spa visit.
Ideal for: Turn your daily shower into a mini beach getaway
Soft Services polishing bar
Langa Chinyoka, beauty editor
Why I like it: The holy grail of physical exfoliating products. If you have KP (also known as strawberry skin), a few weeks of light exfoliation with this bar will make it virtually disappear.
Ideal for: Gently rub the KP
Kosas AHA Body Wash
Langa Chinyoka, beauty editor
Why I like it: This exfoliating body wash is my favorite after a workout. It also smells very refreshing and lathers perfectly.
Ideal for: Post-workout exfoliation
Beia Bikini & Body Scrub
Langa Chinyoka, beauty editor
Why I like it: I love the texture of this body scrub. It does not just dissolve on contact with skin or water. It’s gentle, but also so effective.
Ideal for: Soft skin that smells so good
Lush Sticky Date Scrub
Tatom Hoffman, Marketing Intern
Why I like it: This body scrub is a real treat. Sticky Dates has the most delicious scent and I love that it stays on the skin in the best possible way after showering. It leaves my skin super soft and refreshed every time.
Ideal for: Smoothing texture
Uni Plush Marine Shower Oil
Bridget Chambers, Style Editor
Why I like it: I’m addicted to soft, dewy skin, and my perfect routine starts in the shower with Uni Shower Oil. This is an oil-based body wash that starts as an oil and turns into a foam when you massage it into your skin. This is the best shower oil I’ve tried because it stays clean without dehydrating my skin. I always add lotion after showering, but I noticed a noticeable difference in my skin immediately after towel drying.
Ideal for: Replenishes hydration and supports the skin barrier
Cycles sensory shower gel – Sandalwood
Anna Decker, Head of Social Media and E-Commerce
Why I like it: If I could convince you to buy one shower essential, this would be it. The scent of sandalwood is warm, sweet and grounding, making the entire shower slightly more luxurious. The foam leaves your skin feeling so refreshed, especially when paired with the body oil-it’s such a dreamy combination.
Ideal for: Mini spa moment for everyday life
Hanni Splash Salve In-Shower Moisturizing Body Balm
Anna Decker, responsible sand of social media and e-commerce
Why I like it: I like it because it streamlines my routine. You apply it at the end of your shower and rinse, and somehow you come out already hydrated. It’s perfect for those days when you want soft skin but don’t feel like doing a full lotion routine after your shower.
Ideal for: Hydrated, silky skin without the extra lotion step
Shower tools that improve your routine
Crown Affair Hair Towel
Camille Styles, founder and editor-in-chief
Why I like it: If you didn’t think it was possible to obsess over something like a hair towel, think again. Crown Affair manages to make even the most mundane items luxurious (have you seen the scrunchie?), and this oversized towel gently absorbs while protecting hair from the damage that causes frizz and breakage.
Ideal for: Faster drying time, without heat
Mane and Ivy Scalp Massager
Brittany Chatburn, Director of Content Marketing
Why I like it: I use this scalp massager several times a week to exfoliate while I shampoo and to promote circulation (and hair growth!) when it’s dry.
Ideal for: Gentle scalp exfoliation and circulation
The best shaving products
Billie Razors
Kristen Garaffo, editor-in-chief
Why I like it: Billie Razors and I have had a committed relationship since 2019. I haven’t needed to buy razors from the store in years because I have them delivered to my door. A dream! I even swap out the handles for different colors depending on the season.
Ideal for: Smooth, even shave with a dose of dopamine
Cremo Original Shaving Cream
Bridget Chambers, Style Editor
Why I like it: You’d think I’d already mastered shaving my legs, but if I use anything other than THIS shaving cream, I come out of the shower looking like I stepped into a bush. Cremo shaving cream is super smooth and moisturizing, allowing me to shave easily without any nicks. It’s also super concentrated, so one bottle lasts me forever!
Ideal for: Hydration for an even shave
After Shower Favorites
Corpus Body Butter
Camille Styles, founder and editor-in-chief
Why I like it: This body butter has a whipped texture that melts into the skin and leaves it glowing and radiant with the most divine scents of bergamot, lemon and orange blossom. My favorite treat to apply right after my bath.
Ideal for: Deeply nourished skin with a soft, velvety finish
Colleen Rothschild Hydrating Silk Veil Emulsion
Isabelle Eyman, Editorial Strategist
Why I like it: This moisturizer melts into the skin in the most beautiful way: rich but never heavy. I love applying it right after a shower, when my skin is still slightly damp; it locks in moisture and leaves everything soft and deeply hydrated.
Ideal for: That “just left the spa” skin feeling
Kai Body Butter
Isabelle Eyman, Editorial Strategist
Why I like it: Yes, I moisturize twice after showering, because if I had to choose one signature scent for the rest of my life, it would be this one. Kai’s scent is sweet, floral, and clean in a way that seems effortless rather than fragrant. The body butter itself is deeply nourishing and the scent lingers just long enough for me to notice little hints of it throughout the day.
Ideal for:
Anyone looking for their signature scent
Augustinus Bader Rose and Geranium Body Oil and Cream
Langa Chinyoka, beauty editor
Why I like it: Just a warning: this duo is expensive, but it feels so luxurious every time I put it on. The body oil feels silky and doesn’t transfer, and the body cream is instantly nourishing. I don’t just feel a difference, I see one when I put it on.
Ideal for: Ultra soft skin
Ouai Melrose Place Body Cream
Kristen Garaffo, editor-in-chief
Why I like it: I am obsessed with this perfume. I love using this body cream after showering, especially in the warmer months. It’s a sweet and floral fragrance, ultra feminine and chic. I also love that the body cream is light and not very thick, it applies so easily. Plus, it’s pink!
Ideal for: Smooth, radiant skin that feels as good as it smells
Osée Mega Moisturizing Duo
Bridget Chambers, Style Editor
Why I like it: Again, I’m addicted to my gentle skin routine and people notice how gentle I am all the time. This Osea duo is my holy grail. After showering, I start with the lotion and seal it all in with the oil. Both products also have firming properties, so not only will you feel hydrated, but your skin will feel firmer over time. Plus, the smell is to die for – I crave it in perfume form. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but the luxurious feeling is worth it. I used to save it for special occasions, but then I decided that every day was special and I deserved to feel and smell this good every day!
Ideal for: Luxuriously soft skin
Nerra Body Oil
Suruchi Avasthi, food editor
Why I like it: This Nerra body oil is my ultimate luxury upgrade to my shower routine. I love body oil, and this may be the only one I’ve tried that doesn’t leave a greasy feeling, thanks to the way the oil is immediately absorbed, leaving your skin soft and hydrated. I always get so many compliments on how beautiful this perfume is and I can’t stop recommending it.
Ideal for: A beautiful, subtle, luxurious scent and ultimate hydration without the greasy feeling
Soft terry cloth bathrobe for women
Anna Decker, Head of Social Media and E-Commerce
Why I like it: I’ve never really been a dress person, until this one. It’s incredibly soft and comfortable, and putting it on after my shower has become one of my favorite parts of the entire routine. It just makes that post-shower getting ready moment a little more romanticized.
Ideal for: That luxury hotel feeling, without leaving home
How to Create an “All Shower” Routine
There’s your daily shower, and then there’s the all shower. The kind where you linger a little longer, reset your mood, and come out feeling like the most refined version of yourself. It’s less about adding steps and more about being intentional with the ones you already have. Personally, I always feel like I’m channeling Gwyneth on my All days, but you do it.
Here’s how to create a routine that’s both elevated and easy to get back into.
Step 1: Prepare the skin and hair first
Turn on the shower and let the water warm up while you get ready. I like to start with a dry brushing routine to remove dead skin and stimulate my lymphatic system. It feels like a mini-massage and delivers results, leaving my skin silky soft at the end of the shower.
Depending on your hair type, brushing it before wetting it can work wonders. I find this reduces the amount of breakage and tangling later when I get in the shower with my hair thoroughly brushed.
Step 2: Start your hair and scalp care
Think of hair care as the foundation. Start by completely saturating your hair, then apply a shampoo that gently cleanses without stripping it. This is also the time to apply a scalp treatment or mask, something that removes buildup while promoting long-term hair health. Once your treatment is applied, let it sit while you continue your routine.
Step 3: Exfoliate and Cleanse
While your hair is soaking, focus on your skin. A gentle body scrub helps remove dry, dull layers and brings back that smooth feeling that just left the spa.
Follow with a body wash that’s pleasant to use, whether it’s something citrusy and energizing or gentle and grounding. The goal here isn’t just clean skin, it’s about creating a moment you look forward to.
Step 3: Shave (if desired)
If shaving is part of your routine, now is the time to do it, once your skin has softened under warm water and after exfoliating. A good razor and moisturizing shaving cream can make the difference between something you rush through and something that feels smooth.
Step 4: Flush + Reset
Before going out, do a final rinse and let everything disappear: the product, the tension, the mental disorder of the day. It’s a small change, but it turns your shower into a real reset instead of just another task.
Step 5: Lock in Moisture After Showering
The real glow happens after turning off the water. While your skin is still slightly damp, apply a body oil or moisturizer in the shower to seal it in.
Wrap your hair in a microfiber towel, breathe, and resist the urge to rush. Slip on something silky, pour a glass of wine or make some tea, and curl up with a book or movie to top it off.
At a minimum, a good shower routine comes down to three things: a gentle shampoo, a body wash that you enjoy using, and a moisturizer to apply afterward. From there, extras like scalp treatments, scrubs, and body oils can elevate the experience, but they’re just that: add-ons, not requirements.
An “everything shower” is a longer, more intentional routine where you go beyond the basics: washing your hair, exfoliating, shaving, and applying treatments all in one session. It’s less about doing All and much more about creating a moment that leaves you completely reset.
For most skin types, exfoliating once or twice a week is enough to maintain smooth, healthy skin without irritation. If your skin is more sensitive, you may want to tone it down and opt for gentler formulas.
Look for products that support both exfoliation and hydration. A body scrub helps banish dullness, while a nourishing body wash and after-shower oil or lotion helps restore moisture and give skin a soft, illuminated glow. ‘interior.
No way. A quick and easy shower can be just as effective when you use products that suit your hair and skin. Consider “showering everything” as an occasional ritual, not a daily requirement.
