At this point you could really make the case that Final Fantasy 7 is its own IP address, distinct from the Fantasy Finale series. It contains a feature film, a remake trilogy, countless ports, and tons of spinoffs. It’s a universe in its own right.
This is why this new version of Square-Enix could please a number of FF7 fans, including those who grew up on the PlayStation original, or mega-fans of the remakes.
FF7 Rebirth Ultimania releases in July
The art looks fantastic
In true Square Enix fashion, this new Final Fantasy 7 The version has a name: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Material Ultimania. Billed as an “encyclopedic collection of art and information” for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirththis full-color hardcover book looks appealing on many levels.
The part I’m most interested in is the Enemy Dispatch, which presents planning sheets for enemy abilities and placement on the battlefield. This isn’t just a flashy art book; it is also, in part, a design document.
Here’s what you can expect: “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Material Ultimania provides a comprehensive collection of production art and CG art assets, including character models and illustrations, locations and backgrounds, props, weapons, and enemies, all accompanied by staff commentary. This volume also includes cinematic storyboards, enemy interaction development material, and much more! This full-color, hardcover book is a visual homage to the stunning new interpretation of one of the most beloved RPGs of all time.
At 208 pages, this should be a pretty comprehensive overview of the series, not just Renaissance. It is scheduled to be released on July 14, 2026. This is just one in a series of books go out for Fantasy Finale series, like Final Fantasy Tactics will receive an art book, And Final Fantasy 16 hosts several book releases.
Of all this, the coolest is undoubtedly the Final Fantasy 9 picture book. With Vivi on the cover, fans can’t wait to revisit the wonderful world of Gaia.
A perfect gift before the arrival of part 3 of FF7 Remake
We are still waiting for this revelation
As a recap, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released in 2020, and Renaissancethe sequel, was released in 2024. Although the timeline does not perfectly match the third and final entry in the remake trilogy of FF7, we could see it in 2028. Square Enix hasn’t officially revealed it (or its subtitle) yet, so we’ll have to wait until then. Waiting for, FF7 Rebirth will be released on Switch 2 and Xbox platforms in June.
There is still plenty of time to discover Final Fantasy 7 rewatch the series if you haven’t already. The story of Cloud and his friends transcends the ’90s, especially when given a new coat of paint.
