A new trailer gave us our best look at the next one The ghost in the shell animated. While this may not tell us much about where the series is going plot-wise, it’s certainly aesthetically pleasing, with a returning art style that resembles the original manga much more than we’ve seen with other adaptations. The series will be released on Prime Video in July.
The ghost in the shell is produced by Science Saru. The studio hasn’t revealed much about its story, only noting that it’s based on Masamune Shirow’s manga, so it’s not yet entirely clear how closely it will follow the source material. The franchise has certainly seen its fair share of questionable adaptations over the years. But this glimpse of the art style seems to be a promising indicator. No exact release date has been announced yet, but July isn’t too far away now.
