This summer’s 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the biggest in the tournament’s history. We will have 48 teams in what should be an epic edition of the best sporting event on the planet. This World Cup will take place in three countries: the United States, Mexico and Canada. And elite teams like Brazil, Spain, France and England will be there. Without forgetting Argentina (led by Lionel Messi) and Portugal (with Cristiano Ronaldo headlining). [WHEN AND WHERE: Full Schedule for 2026 FIFA World Cup] But before we get to all that, we have a few details to finalize on Tuesday. In Europe, eight teams will play for four places in the tournament. Later today, four teams from different parts of the world will compete for two places. Twelve teams. There are six World Cup places remaining to complete the table. We will be attending a football match on Tuesday. Here’s what to expect: GO TO: Kosovo-Türkiye | Bosnia-Herzegovina-Italy | Sweden-Poland | Czechia-Denmark | Bolivia-Iraq | DR Congo-Jamaica UEFA Qualifiers Roadmap: Kosovo vs. Turkey Fans of the U.S. men’s national team will want to keep an eye on this matchup as the winner will join the United States in Group D, alongside Australia and Paraguay. This Turkish team is legitimate and aiming to return to the World Cup for the first time since their memorable run in 2002, where they finished in third place. Having finished second in their qualifying group against Spain, Turkey can be expected to pose a tough challenge (especially against the United States) if they reach the tournament. Team captain Hakan Calhanoglu is the driving force on the pitch for Türkiye, with the Inter Milan star providing pace and creativity in midfield. The team has two young playmakers, Arda Guler from Real Madrid and Kenan Yıldız from Juventus. Kosovo aims to maintain its underdog status by reaching the World Cup for the first time – a potentially momentous sporting turnaround for a country that became independent in 2008. UEFA Playoffs: Bosnia and Herzegovina v Italy The winner of this match joins Qatar, Switzerland and tournament co-hosts Canada in World Cup Group A. Italy has been seeking to finally return to the big stage since 2014, an inexplicable drought for a team that has won the World Cup four times in its illustrious history. If the Azzurri beat their Bosnian opponents, expect a team to be among the most talented in the tournament this summer. Inter Milan winger Federio Dimarco has been a constant force for the Serie A leaders this season with six goals and 15 assists, while Juventus star striker Moise Kean has delivered plenty of big moments for club and country. Edin Dzeko, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 40-year-old talisman striker, is a familiar face to several Italian stars. Dzeko was a club teammate of Italy’s three starting defenders. Dzeko played in Rome with Gianluca Mancini and Riccardo Calafiori (now at Arsenal) from 2015 to 2021. Dzeko teamed up with Alessandro Bastoni in the Inter Milan team that reached the 2023 Champions League final. UEFA Playoffs: Sweden v Poland The winner of this intriguing match in Stockholm joins Group F alongside the Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia. Sweden had a dismal qualifying campaign but found better direction under former Chelsea manager Graham Potter. Despite missing Liverpool star striker Alexander Isak due to injury, the Swedes have plenty of attacking options. In the 3-1 playoff semi-final win over Ukraine last Thursday, Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres scored all three goals. Poland has some veteran depth, headlined by Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski. The 37-year-old is hoping to cap off a successful international career with a third consecutive World Cup appearance. Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski is also a key man for the Polish team. UEFA Playoffs: Czechia v Denmark The winner of this match will join Group B alongside South Korea, South Africa and co-hosts Mexico. Denmark is aiming to qualify for its third consecutive World Cup, while Czechia has not qualified for this tournament since 2006. Czechia had to reach this stage by overcoming a two-goal deficit against Ireland on Thursday and then winning on penalties. Denmark have more individual talent in their squad, including captain Christian Eriksen (now at Wolfsburg), Napoli striker Rasmus Højlund and Arsenal defender Christian Norgaard. If they can get past a Czech team with a competent striker in Patrik Schick, the Danes will become even more part of an already difficult Group A. Intercontinental Playoffs: Iraq vs. Bolivia The winner of this match (which will take place in Monterrey, Mexico) will join France, Senegal and Norway in World Cup Group I. Iraq is seeking to return to the World Cup for the first time in 40 years and has been playing a competitive match since December. This should work in favor of the Bolivian team which beat Suriname on Thursday in the semi-final. The South American team has only participated in the World Cup once. Intercontinental Playoffs: DR Congo vs. Jamaica This match (which will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico) will bring together Portugal, Uzbekistan and Colombia in Group K of the World Cup. The Democratic Republic of Congo are one of the most complete teams in Africa and boast some impressive players with a significant track record in Europe’s top leagues, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham United), Yoane Wissa (Newcastle United) and captain Chancel Mbemba (Lille). But don’t count out a Jamaican team that also boasts plenty of European-based talent, including Wrexham star Bailey Cadamarteri and Aston Villa midfielder Leon Bailey. 2026 FIFA World Cup: How to watch The World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Spread across three countries, the tournament will culminate with the final on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. All 104 tournament games will be broadcast live on FOX (70) and FS1 (34), with each game streamed live and on-demand in the FOX One and FOX Sports apps.
