Steam is one of the best places to go if you’re looking for free games, I’m sure we can all agree. There are demos, 100% limited-time discounts on larger occasional releases, and even a generous mix of completely free products. indie games. There’s always something and it’s always worth checking out.

With all the free games on Steamit can be a little difficult to know what’s worth it and what’s not worth it. It can also be incredibly taxing on your game backlog, which is no doubt sitting alone in the dark of your Steam library and wondering why you haven’t come to play with them yet.

Well, today’s Steam delay is tomorrow’s problem, because there is currently a free download on Steam for one of the best games of 2026 yet.

Vampire Crawlers: The Vampire Survivors Turbo Wildcard (yes, that’s its full title) recently released, and it’s just about the most engaging game I’ve played so far this year. As Vampire Survivors Before that, developer Poncle mastered the art of “one more game” becoming a 3 a.m. bedtime game.

“From the creators of Vampire Survivors comes a turbocharged turn-based roguelite deck-building game”, reads the game’s synopsis. “Perform world-ending combos, traverse infested dungeons, and master the Turboturn to wipe out hordes of familiar enemies with a chaotic hand of cards.”

One of the best things about Crawling vampires is that you can get it for less than $10 at full price. But if you still need convincing, a demo is available via the Steam store so you can let the game really sink your teeth into it.

At the time of writing, Crawling vampires has a 96% rating on Steam with overwhelmingly positive reviews. It’s not difficult to understand why. I bought it for Nintendo Switch 2 this weekend and I already forgot what color the sky is.

Oh, it’s also available for free with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, so if you already have access to Game Pass, you should skip the demo and get down to business.

If for any reason you do not want Crawling vampires to completely destroy your life, there are many other free demos available on Steam right away. There’s a taste of Capcom’s excellent hit pragmaticFor example. If that doesn’t appeal to you, there’s a really fun new comedy/puzzle game called The trees hate you which I think you should check out. However, the choice is yours.
