A new trailer for The Odyssey has arrived.

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan adapts Homer’s epic poem, centering on Odysseus and his ten-year journey home from the Trojan War. After playing in Christopher Nolan films Interstellar And OppenheimerMatt Damon reunited with the director, this time to play Ulysses.

Now, while Nolan was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colberta new trailer for The Odyssey was released. Beyond showing more of Ulysses and his epic journey, during which he encounters a Cyclops, the footage highlights Robert Pattinson’s character Antinous, a suitor who seeks to marry Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and seize the throne of Ithaca. Check out the trailer below:

While much of the trailer focuses on Antinous and his intrigues, it opens with the nymph Calypso (Charlize Theron) asking Odysseus what he remembers, with a focus on Penelope and their son Telemachus (Tom Holland). He also reflects on his victory in the Trojan War, and there is a picture of King Menelaus (Jon Bernthal) shouting triumphantly as the fighting draws to a close. Actors missing from the trailer include Zendaya, who plays the goddess Athena, and Lupita Nyong’o, whose role remains under wraps.

Before the trailer debuted on The late showNolan explained why he did The Odyssey his next film, not only because of the way it shaped Western storytelling, but also because the story has never been adapted as a big-budget studio blockbuster before. He praised the actors, including those he had worked with many times, like Damon and Hathaway. The filmmaker also said how impressed he was with Holland, with whom he was working for the first time, and that he would look forward to collaborating with the Spiderman star again.

The anticipation has been incredibly high, with tickets to the 70mm IMAX screenings of The Odyssey put on sale a year in advance and sold out in less than an hour. Not only have Nolan’s films proven to be critical and commercial successes, but there is also widespread interest in viewing them in premium cinema formats. This is even more the case with The Odyssey as it is Nolan’s first film to be shot entirely on 70mm cameras.

The Odyssey remains one of most anticipated films of summer 2026despite other versions, notably The Mandalorian and Grogu, that of Steven Spielberg Disclosure Day, Toy Story 5, Supergirl and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Marvel Cinematic Universe film hits theaters just two weeks later The Odyssey and also features Holland and Zendaya, who reprise their roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and MJ. Meanwhile, Pattinson and Zendaya are not only in Nolan’s latest film, but also in The drama And Dune: Part Threeall three released in 2026.
