THE Nintendo Switch2 has recently enjoyed a huge resurgence in popularity, thanks to two breakout hits with Tomodachi Life: living the dream And Pokémon Pokopiawhich encourages even more gamers to try to get the most out of their console. Despite being expected to be one of the best-selling home entertainment systems in history, it still feels like the Nintendo Switch 2 has only scratched the surface of its full potential.
Luckily, if you’ve ever wanted to get even more utility out of your handheld gaming console, Switch 2 users recently discovered a trick that will give you almost complete access to one of the features fans have been clamoring for since the system’s release.
While the feature was already present in its own dedicated app on the original Switch, YouTube remained unusable on the Switch 2 for almost a year after its full release, until now. As reposted by KirRoseFury on X, Switch users on Reddit discovered that by downloading the free game Super Pet Royale on the Nintendo Store, you’ll be able to access a fully viewable version of YouTube with relatively minimal effort.
Even though it doesn’t have nearly the same functionality as a supported app, by going to the News section of Super Pet Royale on your Switch 2, you will still be able to watch the videos of your choice as if you were regularly browsing on a personal computer.
While several users were more than happy to discover the discovery and share proof of how the app works, many others criticized the discovery for their conversion. “How come we still don’t have YouTube normally on Switch 2.“YouTube isn’t the only thing Switch 2 users have to rely on fans for either, as we’ve only just gained access to Twilight Princess on the switch using an emulator.
If you’re able to look past the sea of users laughing at the absurdity that the Switch 2 still doesn’t have native YouTube support, others report that Super Pet Royale is actually a pretty fun game in itself, and that “people should play this game anyway.“
While we may never get official YouTube support for the Switch 2 itself, it’s likely that there will be even more workarounds like this in the future, but otherwise there are still plenty of leaked Nintendo projects on the horizon to keep us entertained even without video support.
