  • The new Ninja Slushi Twist is two Slushis in one for making mixed drinks
  • Total capacity of 144 oz is almost the same as Ninja Slushi Max
  • The price is $399; international prices to be confirmed

One of my favorite kitchen appliances is the Ninja Slushi, which makes frozen drinks and makes a treat with kids and friends. Mine saw constant use last summer, and while I love it, there’s always room for improvement: it would be even better if it could mix drinks – and that’s exactly what the new model can do.

The new Ninja Slushi Twist was inspired by gadget hackers who put two normal Slushies together to create a master mixer. Instead of one cylinder, the Twist has two, with what Ninja calls Dual SlushAssist technology (I’m not sure if the people at the company keep a straight face when they call it that) to detect the contents of each and adjust the settings to deliver the perfect balance of ingredients. The result is two flavors in one drink, mixed together in a playful way.

You can of course do this manually. But the Ninja is more precise and also looks a little crazy. So it’s nice.

Ninja Slushi Twist and Slushi XL: How Much and When to Get Them

If you don’t want to mix drinks that day, having two chambers means it has a generous 144 ounce capacity, which is a bit less than the Ninja Slushi Max’s 150 ounces. Large capacity means more time hanging out and less time making drinks.

We reviewed the original Slushi and really liked it – the TechRadar review of the Ninja Slushi is what convinced me that I needed it in my life and on my counter.

The Ninja Slushi Twist will be available starting May 15. Expect to pay $399.99 for the Twist in the US, compared to $369.99 for the Slushi Max; We’ll keep you updated on UK and Australian prices when we have them.
