Australia’s intelligence chief told an inquiry into the Bondi Beach shooting on Monday that anti-Semitism was not under control in the country after the start of the Gaza war. The head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organization, Mike Burgess, added that before the attack which killed 15 people attending a Jewish Hanukkah celebration in December 2025, anti-Semitism had increased in severity from “intimidation behavior to direct targeting of people”.
