Is Instagram down? What you need to know

Instagram users started the week with some glitches in their feeds. People began reporting problems with the Meta-owned social media app at the start of the East Coast workday.

Error reports began appearing on Downdetector around 9 a.m. ET on Monday. (Downdetector and CNET are both owned by the same parent company, Ziff Davis.) The number of reports quickly climbed to more than 1,000, up from a base number of around 10.

CNET has contacted Meta for more information on the issues.

Some of the errors seemed to include the app freezing and reels getting stuck on the first frame or not playing automatically.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

The issues appear to be resolved for now.

Instagram appears to have resolved its errors as of 9:50 a.m. ET on Monday. Reports of issues on the app are steadily declining, according to Downdetector, but we will continue to monitor the situation.
