An explosion occurred at a fireworks factory in Naxxar, Malta on Monday, local authorities confirmed.
Two men, who were in nearby fields at the time of the incident, were taken to hospital with minor injuries while all approved workers linked to the premises have since been accounted for and none were on site at the time, Maltese police said.
Large plumes of smoke could be seen rising into the sky following the sound of the explosions.
An investigation is underway and Prime Minister Robert Abela said his thoughts were with those affected.
