SwitchBot launches the most comprehensive home weather station I’ve seen

SwitchBot launched its latest smart home device on Wednesday: a 7.5-inch E Ink display with a one year battery life and all the facts you could want to know about the weather. THE smart display will even suggest AI Recommendations for traveling, what to wear based on the weather, and inspirational quotes that match the forecast in your area.

The SwitchBot weather station, now available for $110offers a little bit of everything: indoor and outdoor temperatures, humidity levels, air quality reports, seven-day weather forecast, wind speed and direction, sunset times, current UV index, and much more. It also refreshes automatically every 3 hours.

It is made to replace weather appsso you don’t need to use your phone or computer. There are six themes that users can modify to display the details they want, including custom tables they can create with OpenClaw AI.

A representative for SwitchBot did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

With the SwitchBot app, you can receive automated alerts for unusual temperatures or humidity, allowing you to adjust thermostats and take further action. It also has built-in customizable buttons that you can pair with linked smart devices to turn them on automatically, like smart curtains or lights. It can also connect to other SwitchBot devices for more accurate readings, like the SwitchBot Meter Pro.

SwitchBot’s screen can connect to calendars, other sensors, and even smart home devices, doing a little bit of everything.

The E Ink display uses less power than all-LED displays, and SwitchBot reports that it reduces glare, which can be a problem with other smart displays in direct sunlight. There’s a light on the front of the display for easy visibility, and you can place the station on a table or mount it on a wall.

Users can connect the weather hub to their calendar apps including Google, iCloud and Outlook, supporting up to five profiles. This allows different users to check their daily events and reminders, and even set alarms.

I can’t wait to see how these unique features work together. In previous SwitchBot screens I tested, I had the ability to control how often the information refreshed. I wonder if the company included this here, as it would affect battery life. Regardless, it’s interesting to see SwitchBot continue to create E Ink products after its mediocre AI photo frame.
