Dell Pro Max T2 Tower

Dell is currently having a sale on its best business computers. If you need a desktop that can handle demanding professional workloads without breaking a sweat, or even breaking a light sweat, our top-rated desktop workstation will be hard to beat. Currently, the Dell Pro Max Tower T2 costs $3,023 (was $3,923) from Dell.

It has premium hardware, so it’s not cheap, but the $900 saving is welcome. Yes, it’s still expensive, but this desktop computer is not intended for basic office tasks and web browsing. It is a full-fledged workstation designed for professionals working with large data sets, content creation applications, engineering software, AI workloads, and other resource-intensive tasks.

Topping the spec sheet is the Intel Core Ultra 9 285 processor, a 24-core, 24-thread chip capable of boosting up to 5.6 GHz. Paired with 32GB of DDR5 memory, it offers plenty of power for multitasking, complex projects, and demanding professional applications. I’ve also rounded up some of the best alternatives below, including the Pro Max T2 with Core Ultra 5 processor, which is now $1,083 (was $1,402) during the sale.

Graphics duties are handled by Nvidia’s professional RTX 2000 Ada GPU with 16GB of GDDR6 memory. Unlike consumer graphics cards, professional GPUs are optimized for workstation applications and certified software environments where reliability is just as important as raw performance.

Storage comes in the form of a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, offering fast boot times and quick access to large files. The workstation also supports RAID-compatible storage configurations and includes enterprise-grade security features.

In his glowing review, our PC expert Collin noted that it’s “not your typical business PC” and called it “a beast of a machine for professionals who need uncompromising power in engineering, AI, and overall business performance, and want a machine that performs well today and scales for the future.”

The version he reviewed was truly high-end with 128GB of RAM and RTX Pro 6000 graphics and 4TB of storage, but it was also priced at almost $13,000, so in comparison this configuration will appeal to a much wider audience.

The front panel includes multiple USB-A and USB-C ports, including a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2 port capable of 20Gbps transfers. Around the back, you’ll find Thunderbolt 4, additional high-speed USB ports, two DisplayPort outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, and support for a range of optional expansion modules.

Dell also backs the system with ISV certifications, helping to ensure compatibility and stability with professional software packages.

Features like Reliable Memory Technology Pro add another layer of protection by monitoring memory status and alerting users to potential issues.

Windows 11 Pro comes preinstalled, along with support for AI-powered productivity features including Microsoft Copilot.

At just over $3,000, this workstation is still a serious investment, but with a Core Ultra 9 processor, professional RTX graphics, 32GB of DDR5 memory, and a whopping $900 off, you get what you pay for.
