Dog the bounty hunterthe son, Garry Chapmanis celebrating a career milestone… winning a prestigious law enforcement honor after a turbulent time that included a fatal accident, being fired, and a successful fight to get his job back.
Garry tells TMZ… ACE Interdiction announced Sunday that he was selected as the 2025 Patrol Officer of the Year for his work as a “criminal apprehension specialist.” The organization publicly revealed the award on social media and is sending him a plaque recognizing the achievement.
According to Garry, this honor was strictly based on performance. He claims ACE Interdiction looked at his law enforcement statistics for 2025, including arrests and drug seizures, before selecting him as the winner.
Garry tells us his drug seizure numbers were the highest in his county in 2025, which helped him get the merit-based award. He adds that ACE Prohibition only awards three prizes per year.
The recognition holds particular significance for Garry as he says he was nominated by his fellow officers, including members of his staff, despite the challenges he has faced over the past year.
Garry tells us Dog was “thrilled” when he heard about the award and particularly liked his son’s title of “Criminal Apprehension Specialist.”
This award comes after Garry made headlines for his participation during a high-speed police chase in September 2025 that ended in a fatal crash, leaving a teenager dead and several others injured.
As TMZ previously reported…Garry was placed on administrative leave and later licensed by the Priceville Police Department following the incident. He appealed the dismissal and the city council ultimately overturned dismissal, replacing him with a 10-day unpaid suspension and allowing him to rejoin the force.
