Erika Kirk’s last public appearance was at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April 2026. Unfortunately, the event was disrupted by another shooting. A suspect armed with a shotgun, handgun and knives allegedly drove through a security checkpoint near the ballroom and shot a Secret Service officer, according to CBS News.
Fortunately, he did not approach the president, who was evacuated safely by the Secret Service. Journalists and guests hid under tables while the suspect was subdued. Erika Kirk was seen crying as security escorted her safely away from the scene. On June 2, the president revealed that the event would be postponed until the end of July.
“As a sign of strength and courage, it has just been announced that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which ended violently and quite abruptly on April 25, will be postponed until July 24,” he wrote on Truth Social. “This announcement is a very good thing as we cannot allow the Lunatics to change our way of life, or even its schedules.”
He added that the event would take place at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C., which was formerly the Trump International Hotel. It remains to be seen whether Erika will attend the rescheduled event.
