Woman who went viral for taking Knicks-themed trash can is no longer with JPMorgan Chase

A woman who was seen on video last week emptying herself and apparently taking a special New York Knicks themed trash can no longer works as an executive at JPMorgan Chase.

Angie Baez, 40, was identified as the person seen throwing away one of the special edition trash cans during the Knicks celebration parade in Manhattan. according to the New York Post.

The blue and orange bins were distributed last week by the New York City Department of Sanitation to commemorate the Knicks’ victory. first NBA championship in over 50 years.

A JPMorgan Chase spokesperson told NBC News on Wednesday that Baez, former executive director of community and industry engagement, no longer works for the company. The spokeswoman would not say whether she left the company following the video.

Baez did not immediately respond to a call or email seeking comment from NBC News.

The Department of Sanitation confirmed the bin was returned to the city on Wednesday morning.

“First, we reiterate previous comments that littering the street and stealing public property for your personal use are both illegal and antisocial behaviors, and are not what New Yorkers do,” the department said in a statement. “On top of all that, doing both on camera is incredibly stupid.”

The original video of the incident was posted on TikTok. In an Instagram story, the woman credited with posting the video sharing the Post’s reporting expressed remorse over the situation.

The woman did not immediately respond to a message from NBC News.

“I honestly feel so bad for her,” the woman wrote. “I didn’t expect the response to be so negative when I posted this video. This is what our parents warned us about.”
