Terminally ill child 12-year-old child dies by euthanasia

A terminally ill 12-year-old was euthanized in the Netherlands…and now the doctor is going to be examined…even though the practice is legal.
Here’s the deal… in 2024, the Dutch government legalized euthanasia for seriously ill children aged 1 to 12… and this unidentified minor in question died last year, according to the outlet. SAI. This child is the first to die by euthanasia since the law was adopted.
The Dutch Minister of Health, Sophie Hermansreportedly wrote in a legal letter that the case had been examined and would be sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM), which will ultimately determine whether the procedure was carried out in accordance with the law.
There are several regulations regarding voluntary euthanasia, and the Dutch government says that this is only authorized “for patients whose unbearable suffering, with no prospect of improvement, has a medical dimension”. In addition, the patient must request euthanasia themselves and fully understand the consequences.
The government does not allow euthanasia “in cases where a person is “done with life” or considers their life to be “over.”

Euthanasia has gradually become an option in several countries. Earlier this year we told you about a Spanish woman who decided to be euthanized ending his life at just 25 years old after failing to commit suicide several times in the past.
