Don’t get me wrong, I love my dog. He’s a very, very good boy. Maybe the best boy? I don’t know, I haven’t met all the dogs. Again. But what I don’t like so much is his hair, which seems to be falling out so quickly that I’m surprised he has any left.
So it’s been an absolute blessing to have spent two years testing vacuum cleaners for TechRadar. I’ve tested all kinds of vacuums, at all price points, but the one I’ve stuck with is the Roborock Saros 10. It arrived at my house in the spring of 2025, and it’s been an essential tool in my hair-fighting arsenal ever since. He gets sent out to clean every night – and he hasn’t let me down yet.

Although it’s one of my most used gadgets, I found it a little difficult to recommend at list price (£1.5k at launch). Since then, it’s attracted a number of deals, but none as good as the current Prime Day discount: the Roborock Saros 10 is now £699.99 at Amazon (down from the adjusted list price of £1,199.99). At this price, I would absolutely recommend it, as it’s one of the best robot vacuums I’ve ever used – and, like I said, I’ve used it a lot.
In the United States, buyers get a slightly different deal: the Saros 10R now costs $884.99 on Amazon (was $884.99). $1,599.99). That’s another record price on this sister model, which is also well-reviewed (by another dog owner). These are some of the best Amazon Prime Day deals I’ve seen.
If you’re wary of such a deep discount, don’t be. The robot vacuum market is evolving at a rapid pace, with several new models released each year (the two robots presented here have been officially replaced by the Saros 20 and the Saros 20 Sonic). This means that models like this could be considered old news, even though they’ve only been around for a few years.
The rate of appreciable improvement has slowed, however, so while the specs of newer models may be technically better, you’ll probably be hard-pressed to see much, if any, difference in performance. This is the case with the Saros 20, which I also tested.
What’s so good about the Roborock Saros 10?
Why do I like the Roborock Saros 10 so much? It’s a high-performance, versatile device that requires minimal effort and maintenance on my part. The suction is effective and efficient, and navigation and object avoidance is reliable, even when faced with the complicated corner of my kitchen that includes a thin rug, a table, and several dining chairs, and which doubles as the dog’s favorite toy disposal area. Cleaning is also efficient and thorough, removing paw prints and stains with ease.
The dock is also remarkable. It automatically empties the dust bin and packs enough of a punch that I’ve never experienced a hair blockage during this process (which isn’t the case with all the auto-empty robot vacuums I’ve used). It will also fill the onboard water tank from its larger dock tank – adding the right amount of cleaning fluid as it goes – and clean and dry the mop pads when finished cleaning. Opting for a slightly older flagship model is my #1 tip for saving money when purchasing a robot vacuum.
What is the difference between the Saros 10 and the 10R?
The Roborock Saros 10 and 10R are very similar in terms of specifications and performance, but there are some design differences. The first is that the 10R uses a different navigation system; one that doesn’t require a raised LiDAR puck. So instead of a puck that can move up and down, there is no puck at all. In testing, we found that this Robovac navigated just as accurately as the 10. Both robots are the same height and both are equally effective at cleaning under the couch.
The second difference is the style of the mop pad. While the 10 has one D-shaped vibrating pad, the 10R has two rotating pads. If I had to choose, I’d say I slightly prefer the dual mop setup, but there’s almost nothing in it. When it comes to wet cleaning, none of these robot vacuums will let you down.
