Harry Potter officially returns with a new Sorcerer’s Stone prequel

It’s an exciting time for Harry Potter fans because, despite the original book celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and the films ending in 2011, the franchise is more alive than ever. Thanks to the recent success of the Harry Potter-inspired RPG Hogwarts Legacy, Along with news of its impending sequel, fans can also expect an all-new tv reboot courtesy of HBO.

However, there’s no denying the magic of the original film series, especially since many of us grew up alongside Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Thus, the chance to be able to experience a Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone the prequel is sure to prick up a few ears.

Over the years, the Harry Potter franchise has inspired some successful video games and thanks to the success of Hogwarts Legacy in 2023, it’s no wonder fans are looking for new ways to experience the series in all its magical glory.

Well, thanks to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, it is now possible. Released in 2018 for Android and iOS, this action RPG set in the wizarding world follows the story of your personalized student arriving at Hogwarts for the first time. Not only that, but its events take place before we meet our Golden Trio at Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, allowing us a glimpse of the world before the events of the film and books.

Despite releasing in 2018, developer Jam City regularly releases updates and content for Hogwarts Mystery, and this month is no exception. As part of its annual Summer of Mystery event, the story will focus on Harry’s very first year at school. To celebrate, players can take part in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry mini-event, as well as an all-new scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will allow players to stumble upon a brand new gift every day, and to make things even more exciting, you can find daily clues on social networks.

That being said, the Summer of Mystery event for Hogwarts Mystery isn’t the only update to look forward to this month, as July is jam-packed with all-new content to dive into. On July 8, a 3-week community challenge will task players to earn as many points as possible for their respective houses. Then, on July 29, the Norbert’s Transport Beyond special preview will go live, and it looks like that’s not all for Jam City as they’re promising a lot more content and events throughout.

Although details about these upcoming events remain scarce, we have received three clues. The former will “challenge the boundaries between the wizarding and muggle worlds,” while the latter will see players “help a beloved Hogwarts professor prepare for a new school year.” Last but not least, a third event will offer “embarking on an exciting journey filled with dragons”.
