The Welsh singer died in Portugal, her family announced Thursday, after weeks in hospital which saw her emerge from a coma of several months.

Pop singer Bonnie Tylerknown for hits such as “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” died after weeks in the hospital, her family announced Thursday. She was 75 years old.

“Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie passed away suddenly last night in hospital in Portugal from the illness for which she was being treated,” a statement said. statement said on his official social media accounts.

The raspy-voiced Welsh singer’s other hits include “Holding on for a Hero” and “It’s a Heartache.”

Tyler emerged from a month-long coma in June but remained “very ill” and in intensive care, his family said at the time.

The daughter of a Welsh coal miner, Tyler achieved worldwide fame and lived with her husband, Robert Sullivan, in Faro, a town in southern Portugal.
