The legal saga that lasted years between Justin Baldoni And Blake Lively from their 2024 film, “It Ends With Us,” essentially concluded in early May 2026, with remaining claims against him settled. Today, a few weeks later, the filmmaker and his wife, Emilie Baldonibroke their silence, describing this ordeal as injustice.
Justin Baldoni and his wife address the Blake Lively trial in a video

The Baldonis took to Instagram on July 8 to post a joint video. The two can be seen sitting outside, apparently on a porch or deck, as they address the Lively lawsuit, in which he sued for $400 million before his claims were dismissed in July 2025.
The “It Ends With Us” director began by saying, “So we haven’t spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we don’t have anything to say, because God knows we have.”
He went on to say that he and Emily had tried to make videos in the past to remedy the situation, but “it just didn’t seem like the right time.”
She then said, “And it feels like now is the time.” From there, Emily said they felt “immense gratitude” for “so many things, so many people and so many things that happened to us.” According to Justin, “gratitude saved us.”
The couple called the trial “an injustice”
Emily continued her joint statement by saying that gratitude does not “deny the injustice and pain that we have also felt in recent years.” She then explained the impact the trial had on their lives, saying they had been forced to “struggle with so many things.”
From there, she shared that they wondered, “How could something like this happen?” » Adding: “And even less disguised as a fight for women. Afterwards, Emily said she and her family were going through “a lot of trauma” as a result of the years-long legal fight.
Justin chimed in, saying, “We don’t even know if that’s the right thing to say. We just know that we have to share something. What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been said over the last couple of years. It’s created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system take its course.”
Emily went on to emphasize that “the truth and the facts speak for themselves,” referring to the settlement, which her legal team considered a victory. Regarding an update, the couple said they are “healing.”
They also shared that they learned that it’s their family, friends and faith that matter after questioning “what’s real.” Justin added that they were “firmer” in their faith.
The couple thanked the people who supported them
Towards the end of the video, Justin and Emily addressed members of the public who have supported them throughout this legal ordeal. According to him, “there were many of you who were our voice when we had no voice.”
He then said that Emily “said a prayer at the very beginning” that she hoped “people would be discerning.” Justin continued, “And many of you had discernment, and you used your intuition, and you trusted it.”
The filmmaker also noted that people had “given up their time to fight for us,” adding, “and ‘thank you’ doesn’t seem enough.”
Closer to the end, Emily remarked, “And there’s so much more to say and that time will come.” »
Blake Lively’s Latest Claims Settled Before Scheduled Trial
The high-profile trial between Baldoni and Lively was scheduled to begin May 18 in New York after being delayed from March. However, instead of going to court, they reached a settlement earlier this month.
Notably, the judge in the case previously dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 civil lawsuits related to alleged sexual harassment on the set of “It Ends With Us.” According to Variety, only three complaints remained: retaliation, complicity in retaliation and breach of contract.
Blake and Justin released a joint statement
After the lawsuit was settled, Baldoni and Lively released a prepared statement. They said: “The final product – the film ‘It Ends With Us’ – is a source of pride for all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness and making a meaningful impact in the lives of survivors of domestic violence – and all survivors – is a goal we support.”
He continued: “We recognize that the process presented challenges and recognize that the concerns raised by Ms. Lively were worth hearing. We remain strongly committed to workplaces free from impropriety and unproductive environments.”
After that, their joint statement called on all parties involved to “move forward constructively and peacefully.” However, since then, Lively has requested $8 million from Baldoni in legal fees.
