Here’s a truth Satan doesn’t want you to remember: Worship focuses your attention on God, strengthens your faith, and helps you resist the lies of the enemy. Of course you have several spiritual weapons to use in every battle of faith that you will encounter in your life– the most powerful being the Word of God. Prayer, scripture, and worship are powerful gifts that God has given to His people. Satan knows that worship is important because he has always wanted the glory that belongs to God alone.
Satan understands the power of worship. He understands his purpose better than many Christians. Satan understands that worshiping God bring you closer for Him – and above all He tries to do, He wants to keep you separated from God! Of course nothing can separate you from God lovebut many things can keep you from connecting to God’s Spirit in worship. Well, it would be more accurate to say this: many things can make you feel separated from God in worship.
THE truth is that you have so much access to The Holy Presence of God in Worship like you always did. But sometimes we feel like we can’t do it because we’re not “worthy.” Satan expects that your natural inclination is to avoid worship altogether or to just go through the motions when life gets difficult, or when you’ve made mistakes, or when your emotions don’t “feel” that way…so he will throw everything he can at you to keep you trapped and disconnected.

Key Points
- Worship is a powerful spiritual weapon because it draws believers closer to God and helps them resist the enemy’s attempts to distract, humiliate, or isolate them.
- Satan often uses sin, shame, self-consciousness, restlessness, and discouragement to keep Christians from entering into the presence of God in worship.
- Through Christ, believers can worship boldly, knowing that their dignity lies in Jesus rather than in their own perfection.
- A lifestyle of worship requires commitment, especially when emotions, circumstances, or comfort zones make worship difficult.
- Worship is not about how we feel, but about honoring God with faith, gratitude, obedience, and a willing heart.
Worship is not a formula for manipulating spiritual outcomes; it is the faithful response of a heart that remembers that God is worthy, present and victorious. But if you want to distract Satan from his game of worship, here is your winning strategy in 5 parts:

1. Worship boldly when shame tells you to hide
Satan’s main strategy is to keep Christians self-centered and self-conscious so that they never develop a consciousness of God. When you praise and worship the Lord, your mind is completely fixed on Him, and you intentionally sacrifice and set aside your own situations, emotions, opinions, problems, worries, weights, and sins—and everything else that concerns you—to worship the Savior.
Sin is the number one way we disconnect from God in worship. Not because he left us, but because we distanced ourselves from him. “So let us come boldly to the throne of gracethat we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need,” the author of Hebrews wrote in Hebrews 4:16. Psalm 34:5 said,
“They looked at him and beamed, and their faces were not ashamed.”
Spiritual boldness shocks Satan because he wants you to be afraid and trapped in sin. If you want to keep Satan away from his game, worship. No matter how hard it is, no matter what you have to sacrifice in yourself. Exalt the Savior. Satan will never see it coming!

2. Remember that your worth is in Christ
There is no spiritual qualification to praise and worship the Lord when you are in Christ. None. You are worthy of it. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if you are in Christ, you are a completely new creation. This is not an old repaired and glued creation. A new one that has never existed before! Of course, you should “walk worthy of your calling,” as Paul wrote (Ephesians 4:1), but one of the things we all struggle with is that we “deem ourselves unworthy” (Acts 13:46), and we do not enter into worship because we think that God still counts our sin against us.
Will you experience the natural consequences of sin? Yes.
Will you feel a distance between you and God every time you willfully disobey? Yes.
But in Christ you are still worthy.
“Feeling” worthy is a lie from Satan. You may never feel worthy, because you are not…but Jesus is! Because of Him, you are always worthy, even when you sin. This is because your dignity does not depend on your actions, but on the actions of Jesus Christ. Should you continue in your sin? “Certainly not!” as Paul wrote. (Romans 6:1-2) But every time you struggle with sin, Satan will use this “fulcrum” to try to pull you further away from the presence of God. Worship the Lord! His presence is transformative, healing, life-giving and powerful. And that is why Satan knows he will lose the war if you worship.

3. Worship without shame before God
One of the most effective ways Satan attempts to keep God’s people from the power of His presence is to shame. Not the shame of sin (see above), but the shame of the expression of “self” in worship. Remember, being “self-conscious” will keep you from being God-conscious. Is everyone looking at me? What will people say if I clap, raise my hand, or shout hallelujah? Or testify? Or cry? Or prophesy? Or dance? These are all scriptural expressions of praise and worship, but we get so caught up in what others will think or how they will react that we forget what God will think, or how He will react!
When it comes to praise and worship, no biblical expression should be excluded and, in fact, each should be incorporated. But this is easier said than done, due to pressures, expectations and “the way things are done”. But if God isn’t ashamed of how you want to express yourself in worship, why are you?
Gratitude is the origin of worship, but sacrifice of “self” is what ignites it to a whole new level. Do you want to catch Satan off guard? Do something in worship that you’ve never done before! He tried to trick you and he thinks you don’t know how to get out of it. Jesus Christ frees you, now worship as you believe!

4. Build a lifestyle of worship
A lifestyle of worship is what will get you to the other side of every dark valley. Many times we think of worship as something for “us”, when in reality, it is above all about serving the Lord, not about what the Lord can do for us. Blessings, help in trouble, refreshing, timely word, healing, and all the rest are the natural results of true worship, but should not be the result. reason for worship.
Jesus is the reason we worship! Worship is a spiritual discipline, and develop a lifestyle of worship takes intention, like anything else. If you don’t want to worship, you won’t. However, it’s like losing weight, working on your marriage, or even taking care of your children: when you don’t feel like it, something bigger than yourself forces you to act because you’re committed.
Soon, the more you commit to developing a lifestyle of worship, the more natural it becomes – and it will make all the difference! “My soul longs, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out to the living God,” writes the psalmist in Psalm 84:2. This desperate desire to be close to the Lord comes from…being close to the Lord! Satan wants you to be busy elsewhere, too tired, too frustrated, too worried, too angry, too discouraged to worship. If you’re looking for passion in your worship, start with commitment.

5. Stay Ready to Worship Beyond Your Comfort Zone
“The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak,” Jesus said in Matthew 26:41. Of course you’re ready to worship…we all are. Otherwise, what’s the point of being a Christian? Fire insurance? We praise and worship the Lord because we love Him and because He first loved us. But don’t stop there. Be willing to all of it. This is where it gets difficult.
We say we are willing, but then we hesitate or draw a line with God on what we will or will not do in worship. Be ready to offer Him a new sacrifice, to step out of your comfort zone and to listen to the Holy Spirit. Be prepared to ask what He expects you in worship. And be ready to make it as your sacrifice. If you ask the Holy Spirit how He wants you to worship Him, He will inspire your mind with the answer. Have you ever realized that He might like to see something different from you? Would your spouse feel loved and appreciated if all you did was praise them? Or would your children feel complete if all you did was pat their heads?
One day it might be a sacrifice to sing. Another day, maybe the Lord will prompt you to speak… to shout… to kneel… or to dance! He always will challenge you because it will be change You. Are you ready? Satan wants to change you by challenging you. But if you can discipline yourself to view worship through the eyes of faith, you will learn that praise and worship is not about how you feel. This is not possible! This is what Satan wants! Sing spiritual words. Do spiritual actions. Live a life of spiritual growth. Now… stop, let it go and worship!
