AFC kicks off 6-month countdown to Asian Cup with Dream XI fan campaign

July 13 - AFC have marked the six months remaining until the start of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, inviting fans to vote for their dream Asian Cup XI 'AFC of all time.

Fans can vote via the new AFC mobile app or on the website. The fan whose team matches the selected final Dream XI will win a trip to the Asian Cup Qatar 2023 opener between defending champions Qatar and Lebanon.

The Asian Cup was originally scheduled to be hosted in China in 2022, but with pandemic-related travel issues and China's covid isolation policies, the Chinese have pulled out of hosting. The AFC renewed the right to host at short notice, with Qatar winning the bid but moving the event to January 2023.

The last Asian Cup in 2019 was a game-changing league for the AFC, with its expansion to 24 teams and hosting in the United Arab Emirates seeing it break all of its previous attendance and viewing records, as well as setting new benchmarks for fan engagement.

We feel that the wait has been long for the next edition in Qatar, which will be the 17th edition covering nearly 67 years of championship.

Fans have until July 30 to pick their dream Asian Cup team from stars like Korea Republic and Tottenham Hospur striker Son Heung-min and two-time winner Majed of the AFC Asian Cup and Saudi Arabia's all-time top scorer.
