A woman threw herself a 'new life' birthday party a year after she survived a tragic fire during a girls' holiday accident.

Maddi Scordia, of Parramatta, Australia, suffered third-degree burns after a fire broke out next to a methane gas fireplace.

The 25-year-old entrepreneur supported himself over 60% of his body, including his chest, arms, stomach, and the majority of his legs.

Maddi was sitting right next to the fireplace when it was lit.

It had rained the day before, and air molecules trapped in the pit caused the fire to erupt and engulf it.

Maddi then spent three months in the Royal Adelaide Hospital as the city went into lockdown and her family were unable to cross borders to meet her.
