Eid Moves to Monday: Mudir Markaz Declares Today, March 31 as Official Eid-el-Fitr in Nigeria

Sheikh Muhammed Habibullah Adam Abdullah El-Ilory has announced that Eid-el-Fitr will be observed in Nigeria today, Monday, March 31st, 2025, instead of yesterday. His declaration is based on both scientific and Islamic principles, emphasizing that modern astronomical calculations confirm the new crescent will not be visible on March 29. As a result, March 31 will officially mark the first day of Shawwal.

Sheikh El-Ilory urged Nigerian Muslims to align with both scientific findings and Islamic teachings in determining the correct Eid date. He also extended his best wishes to Muslim leaders across the country, including the Sultan of Sokoto, as the nation prepares for the end of Ramadan.
