Ex-Liverpool footballer witnesses children stabbed in France in sickening attack

Former Liverpool striker Anthony Le Tallec has revealed he was at the scene of a stabbing that shocked France. Three children have been left in mortal danger after being attacked by a lone man carrying a knife near a lake in the French Alps.

Police have confirmed that a total of eight children and one adult were injured following the sickening attack in the south-eastern town of Annecy. Three of the children are receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries.

In a video posted on Instagram, Le Tallec said he was out for a morning run when he came across people hastily running in the opposite direction. He was informed of the incident and told to flee.

The Frenchman, who was wearing Liverpool training gear in the video, said: "I was running by the lake and saw about ten people running in the opposite direction to me. asked what was going on and someone said to me, "Run, run, there's someone stabbing people. He stabbed children, run, run!"

Le Tallec also revealed that he witnessed the alleged attacker being chased by the police. He then saw injured children on the ground.

He continued, "I saw the guy in front of me, chased by cops five or ten meters behind him, trying to catch up with him. I kept going. I saw children at the end of the lake, children on the ground. Injured children, it's horrible."

French police arrested a suspect on Thursday morning. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed that the eight children and one adult had been victims of a knife attack.

Darmanin tweeted: "Several people including children were injured by an individual armed with a knife in a square in Annecy. The individual was arrested thanks to the very rapid intervention of the police ."
