Good News for NYSC Members: Government Begins Payment of Long-Overdue Minimum Wage Allowance

The Nigerian government has finally commenced the long-awaited payment of the revised minimum wage allowance for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

For years, corps members have called for an upward review of their monthly stipend to reflect the country’s current economic realities. This long-overdue adjustment has now begun, bringing relief to many serving youth corps members.

However, reports indicate that only 2024 Batch A Stream 2 corps members—who are scheduled to complete their service and pass out tomorrow—have received the updated payments so far. The government has not yet clarified when other batches will receive theirs.

While many corps members celebrate this development, others are eagerly awaiting further announcements regarding a nationwide rollout for those still serving.
