Jeremy Allen White and Zac Efron team up to play wrestlers in new A24 movie

US actor Jeremy Allen White arrives at FX premiere in Los Angeles

Jeremy Allen White teams up with Zac Efron and Harris Dickinson to play a trio of wrestling brothers. The actors are set to star in A24's "The Iron Claw," in which they'll play the real wrestling siblings, the Von Erichs. Deadline first broke the White casting news, and A24 confirmed the news on Twitter. The film is written and directed by Sean Durkin.

The film will follow the rise and fall of the Von Erichs, a family dynasty of wrestlers. Family patriarch Jack Adkisson used Fritz Von Erich's name as a wrestling gimmick when he broke into the sport. Five of his six children would also become professional wrestlers. When Fritz died in 1997, five of his six sons had died before him, leading to an urban legend that the family was "cursed". White will play Kerry Von Erich, the most famous member of the family. Efron will play Kevin, the last surviving son, and Dickinson will play David.

It looks like the roles will require the three main men to step up to play the wrestlers. Efron has explained in the past how trying to get his "Baywatch" body left him depressed and exhausted. "That 'Baywatch' look, I don't know if it's really doable. There's just too little water in the skin. Like, it's fake; it looks like CGI," he said Men's Health in their October issue. "And it required Lasix, strong diuretics, to do it. So I don't need to do that."

Meanwhile, White is coming out of the first season of "The Bear", the summer hit which has been renewed for
