Man Utd take 'Mason Greenwood transfer decision' as striker has three options

Manchester United have reportedly decided to send Mason Greenwood on loan for next season, with the striker showing interest across Europe. Greenwood has not played for United for 16 months after being arrested amid allegations of images and videos circulating on social media.

He was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior and assault causing actual bodily harm in October 2022, but those charges were dropped in February this year. United reacted to the dropped charges by launching their own internal investigation, with Greenwood remaining suspended throughout the process.

No official deadline has been set for the investigation, but reports have said a decision is likely to be made before the start of next season. According to the , this internal investigation is still ongoing.

But it seems the club are considering sending Greenwood out on loan for next season.

It is suggested that Italy, Spain and Turkey would be Greenwood's most likely destinations. The idea would be to send the striker on loan for up to a year to allow the club a "new period of reflection".

It would also give United the chance to see how Greenwood regularly returns to professional football. But the report adds that United could still release the 21-year-old, who has two years left on his current deal.

Erik ten Hag was recently asked about Greenwood's position at the club, with the United manager suggesting he is an admirer of the forward's goalscoring abilities.

"[He] has shown in the past that he can do that [by scoring goals for United]," Ten Hag told The Times.

But the Dutchman also insisted he had no say in Greenwood's future at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag reportedly spoke with Greenwood on the phone in February, but he did not return to the club's training ground.
