I'm a Celebrity: Matt Hancock Crosses the Bridge

Matt Hancock has called off his search for a celebrity agent as his bid for fame fails.

The disgraced former health secretary has been in talks with showbiz friends over who should represent him as he seeks to cash in on his notoriety.

But now he has given up his search for an agent amid signs his star power has already faded.

Mr. Hancock reached the final of I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, finishing in third place.

But his fleeting popularity on TV did not translate into sales of his book on the pandemic, which only sold a few thousand copies.

Friends of Mr Hancock say he hoped to follow in the path of former Labor MP Ed Balls, who became a TV personality after his stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

But even his allies now admit it seems 'unlikely' the former Tory health secretary will ever achieve national treasure status.

The Mirror revealed earlier this month that Mr Hancock wanted to start a television career after being kicked out by his own party.

He suggested he could become a host of documentaries on topics such as dyslexia and assisted dying.

Mr. Hancock was removed as Tory Whip in November after dropping out of his constituents to join ITV's I'm a Celebrity. He is believed to have earned around £400,000 for appearing on the show.
