Ten missing manhood cases false; Police vehicle vandalised at Breman
The Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent (C/Supt) Vitus Napen, made the disclosure at a press briefing in Asankragwa. He said Wassa Dunkwa recorded six cases, Asankragwa two cases, Aboi Nkwanta one case and Breman one case.
The Asankragwa Divisional Police Command has dismissed 10 reported cases of alleged missing manhood in its operational area as false, following medical examinations that confirmed the complainants’ genitalia were intact and medically normal.
The Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent (C/Supt) Vitus Napen, made the disclosure at a press briefing in Asankragwa.
The briefing was attended by the District Police Commander, Superintendent James Ankan, and the Divisional Crime Officer, Mr John Kwakye.
C/Supt Napen said the Division recorded the first case at Wassa Dunkwa on October 17, 2026, and has since recorded 10 similar cases.
He said Wassa Dunkwa recorded six cases, Asankragwa two cases, Aboi Nkwanta one case and Breman one case.
According to him, the complainants alleged that their genitalia had disappeared after coming into physical contact with other persons.
C/Supt Napen said all complainants were referred for medical examination, which established that their genitalia were intact and medically normal.
He added that preliminary investigations suggested that panic, anxiety and misinformation had contributed to the spread of the allegations.
The Divisional Commander cautioned the public against raising false alarms over alleged missing genitalia, warning that such actions could attract legal consequences.
He said persons found culpable could be prosecuted for offences related to the publication of false news and deceiving a public officer.
Touching on an incident at Breman, C/Supt Napen said a mob attacked and vandalised a police patrol vehicle when officers arrived to rescue a suspect accused of causing the disappearance of a man’s genitalia.
He said the mob smashed the rear windscreen of the vehicle in an attempt to lynch the suspect.
C/Supt Napen condemned the incident, describing it as criminal, and warned that anyone who attacked security personnel or destroyed state property would be arrested and prosecuted.
He urged the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands and to allow the Police to investigate such allegations.
The Divisional Commander appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders and assembly members in the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality to intensify public education and encourage residents to report suspected criminal activities to the Police.
He said no arrests had been made in connection with the vandalism as of the time of the briefing, adding that investigations were ongoing.
