Harish Rao demands ex gratia for kin of deceased in Saraca mishap

Former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) senior leader T. Harish Rao has demanded that the State government announce an ex gratia payment of ₹1 crore each to the families of two workers who died in the alleged gas leak in Saraca Laboratories at Gaddi Potharam industrial estate in Jinnaram mandal of Sangareddy district on Friday.

In a statement, he asked the government to provide quality treatment to those injured in the incident. He alleged that the government was not taking preventive measures in industries despite regular accidents claiming lives of workers. He stated that safety standards were not being followed in the chemical industries due to negligence of the government. He sought to know why the government had not taken action against the management of Sigachi Industries in the past and Saraca now, who were responsible for the mishaps. He demanded that the government order a comprehensive inquiry into the incidents and take action against those responsible, so that such incidents would not recur.

Mr. Harish Rao also demanded that the families of 54 workers who died in the Sigachi mishap be paid ₹1 crore each ex gratia, as announced by the Chief Minister himself.
