I was expecting appointment as a Council of State member or Religious Affairs Minister under Mahama — Nigel Gaisie

The leader of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has revealed that he had anticipated an appointment as a member of the Council of State or Minister responsible for Religious Affairs under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration. When asked whether he would consider a political appointment from former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia should he become president, Prophet Gaisie indicated that he would be open to such an opportunity if it served Ghana’s interests.

The leader of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has revealed that he had anticipated an appointment as a member of the Council of State or Minister responsible for Religious Affairs under President John Dramani Mahama's administration.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM, the clergyman expressed his belief that his educational background and experience in religious leadership would enable him to contribute meaningfully to national governance.

He boasts as one of the prophets who predicted victory for John Mahama and the NDC ahead of the 2024 elections.

“I was looking forward that maybe I would be a Council of State member or Minister responsible for Religious Affairs,” he disclosed.

According to Prophet Gaisie, accepting a political appointment would not prevent him from continuing his pastoral responsibilities, insisting that religious leadership and public service can coexist.

“I am educated; I would have done it with doing the work of God,” he stated.

He cited the example of the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr Stephen Wengam, who combines his pastoral responsibilities with a board chairmanship position in government, to support his argument.

Prophet Gaisie maintained that the church should actively participate in governance, arguing that religious leaders possess the capacity to contribute to national development.

“The church of God must be into politics,” he stressed.

He further referenced Zimbabwean preacher Prophet Uebert Angel, who previously held a diplomatic appointment in Zimbabwe, as an example of religious leaders participating in public administration.

“Prophet Herbert Angel is a pastor, but he holds a political appointment in Zimbabwe, so we should also look at the next phase of governance. We would see prophets taking political appointments,” he said.

When asked whether he would consider a political appointment from former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia should he become president, Prophet Gaisie indicated that he would be open to such an opportunity if it served Ghana's interests.

“I will look at it; if it is a good appointment that will benefit the country, for nation building, I will do it,” he stated.
