Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar inspected development works in Chidambaram and adjoining areas on Thursday and directed officials to expedite the works.

At Lalpuram, he reviewed the construction of Chidambaram’s new bus stand and instructed officials to complete the work within the stipulated deadline.

He also inspected a Miyawaki plantation established on about 2.5 acres at the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board’s sewage treatment complex. More than 6,000 saplings of various species, including neem and peepal, have been planted at the site.

The Collector also inspected the municipality’s micro-composting centre and instructed officials to ensure proper handling and processing of waste. He also reviewed the functioning of the Animal Birth Control Centre in Chidambaram. The centre had sterilised 1,132 dogs over the past 10 months.

Around 40 sterilisation surgeries were being performed every week through the voluntary organisation International Trust of Peace for dogs brought from Kurinjipadi, Annamalai Nagar, Vadalur and Bhuvanagiri.

The Collector inspected drinking water supply works being implemented by the TWAD Board under the AMRUT and Jal Jeevan Mission schemes in Annamalai Nagar town panchayat.
