Tamil Nadu Congress, VCK mobilise cadres for Nov. 1 INDIA bloc protest in New Delhi

“We expect more than five lakh Congress cadres to participate. From Tamil Nadu, we are expecting at least 100 party workers to reach New Delhi from each district,” says MP R. Sudha

Mayiladuthurai MP R. Sudha said that the party’s rank and file are enthusiastic and have heeded the call of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is expected to lead the protest.

Demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) have activated their respective party machineries to mobilise cadres for the INDIA bloc protest to be held on November 1, 2026, in New Delhi.

While the bulk of the heavy lifting would be done by the Indian National Congress, which is much stronger in and around New Delhi, the TNCC leaders, on their part, are expected to mobilise at least 150 people from every district in Tamil Nadu.

Mayiladuthurai MP R. Sudha said that the party’s rank and file are enthusiastic and have heeded the call of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is expected to lead the protest.

“We expect more than five lakh Congress cadres to participate. From Tamil Nadu, we are expecting at least 100 party workers to reach New Delhi from each district. Apart from them, the office-bearers of the Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, and other party wings will also participate,” she said.

While the Congress party is mobilising people from across the country, Ms. Sudha alleged that the BJP-led Centre was trying to curtail the privileges of Members of Parliament by not allowing Emergency Quotas in trains and not providing accommodation to their guests.

“EQ is not being released. Family members are not being given accommodation, which we are usually allotted. Congress MPs, in particular, are being singled out. They are curtailing our privileges and our movement. This is an undeclared emergency,” she said.

A senior VCK leader said that the party has asked its organs in Tamil Nadu and across southern States such as Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Keralam to mobilise a modest number of party cadres for the protest in New Delhi.
