Class 10 student attacked with wood-cutting machine inside classroom in A.P.’s Anantapur; accused yet to be identified

The girl who was seriously injured in the attack is undergoing treatment in a hospital; two youths who allegedly carried out the attack were not students of the school, fellow students said
A Class 10 student of the Zilla Parishad High School in Raptadu of Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district was seriously injured after being attacked inside her classroom on Saturday (October 31, 2026).
The accused allegedly attacked the girl with a wood-cutting machine after entering the classroom in the presence of a teacher while classes were under way, according to preliminary information. The victim was then shifted to a hospital for treatment.
The accused fled the school, leaving the wood-cutting machine behind in the classroom. The police said they are yet to identify the accused or establish the motive for the attack.
According to fellow students, two youths — who were not students of the school — allegedly entered the classroom and attacked the girl.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock over the attack and enquired with officials about the girl’s condition and the treatment being provided to her. He directed the police to apprehend the accused at the earliest and take action against them in accordance with law.
“I am personally tracking her recovery and have directed the medical team to give her the highest priority care. I have ordered the police to hunt down the monster responsible and deliver the harshest legal punishment swiftly,” he wrote in a post on X.
I am deeply shaken and enraged by the barbaric attack on a Class 10 student inside her classroom at Raptadu ZP High School. Attackers who target our young girls inside schools have no place in our society. I am personally tracking her recovery and have directed the medical team to give her the highest priority care. I have ordered the police to hunt down the monster responsible and deliver the harshest legal punishment swiftly.
Nara Lokesh, State Minister for IT, Human Resource Development and Real Time Governance, also expressed shock over the attack on the girl. “I could not hold back tears in my eyes seeing my small sister lying in a pool of blood inside her classroom. We will crush the perpetrators with an iron hand,” he said, adding that any individual who think of harming a girl or a women is dealt with seriously.
