INDIA bloc Ramlila Maidan rally traffic curbs: Which roads to avoid, timing and more

For the INDIA bloc Ramlila Maidan rally on November 1, Delhi Traffic Police will impose restrictions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including key diversions and curbs on bus movements

Preparations are under way at Ramlila Maidan ahead of the ‘Chalo Dilli’ march scheduled to be held on November 1, in New Delhi on October 29, 2026.

Ahead of the planned Congress-led INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan on November 1, 2026, the Delhi Police have said traffic restrictions will be in place across parts of the national capital from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The traffic police have listed key diversions in Central Delhi, likely regulations on bus movements and suggested alternate routes to reach the New Delhi Railway Station.

The rally is part of the Opposition bloc’s campaign, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities and cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

As per a PTI report, the Delhi Traffic Police will enforce traffic diversions at key intersections in Central Delhi, depending on the situation:

Commuters are likely to face congestion on:

Additional traffic personnel will be deployed across the Central Range to regulate vehicular movement, guide commuters to designated parking areas and prevent congestion around the venue, as per the PTI report.

Bus movement on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, the Rajghat-JLN Marg stretch, DBG Road and Minto Road may also be regulated, the traffic police said.

The police have advised passengers travelling to New Delhi Railway Station to plan their journeys in advance.

Those approaching the station from the DBG Roadside can take Chelmsford Road, Connaught Place’s Outer Circle, Minto Road and Bhavbhuti Marg.

Commuters coming from east Delhi can use ITO, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg and Bhavbhuti Marg to reach the station.

A separate passage will be provided near Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital for emergency vehicles.

Parking arrangements have been made at the railway parking area opposite the hospital, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) parking lots and Rajghat, the police have said.

The traffic restrictions will be in place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 1. The police have granted permission for the rally with strict conditions, and have directed the organisers to ensure that the rally remains peaceful and concludes by 5 p.m.

The Opposition INDIA bloc has planned a “mega rally” at Ramlila Maidan on November 1 over the “vote chori” issue and to press for the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. A march has also been planned at noon from the Minto Road-Connaught Place junction to the Ramlila Maidan.

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, has urged people to join INDIA bloc’s November 1 ‘Chalo Dilli’ march.

“The ‘Chalo Dilli’ Ramlila March is a march to save democracy, to put an end to the theft of votes, and to protect the Constitution,” the Congress leader said.

However, traders’ associations have raised objections to the rally being held ahead of Diwali (November 8, 2026), citing the possible impact of traffic restrictions on businesses around Ramlila Maidan.

The INDIA bloc will also be holding a “public impeachment” proceeding against the CEC on October 31, which was postponed from October 30 due to the rain in the national capital.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), founded by Abhijeet Dipke, has also extended support to the November 1 rally.
