MLC Shashil Namoshi urges State government to grant 3% DA hike from July 1

MLC Shashil Namoshi urges State government to grant 3% DA hike from July 1

MLC Shashil G. Namoshi has urged the State government to immediately approve a 3% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for State government employees with effect from July 1, 2026, and issue an official order in this regard.

Supporting the demand raised by the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association, Mr. Namoshi, in a release on Saturday, said the government should respond positively to the legitimate demands of the employees and safeguard the financial interests of their families.

He said the government employees worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth delivery of public services across departments, including education, health and revenue. Their contribution to the administration should be recognised by providing them with timely financial benefits, he added.

Pointing to rising prices of essential commodities, education expenses and healthcare costs, Mr. Namoshi said a DA hike would provide much-needed financial relief and security to employees’ families.

He also stressed the need to ensure that the State government employees received benefits in line with those announced for the Union government employees, avoiding unnecessary disparities between the two groups.

Mr. Namoshi urged the government to approve the 3% increase retrospectively from July 1 and issue orders covering the arrears without further delay. Employees should not be compelled to submit repeated representations to secure their legitimate benefits, he said.

Describing government employees as an integral part of public life, he said their welfare was essential to maintaining morale and improving the efficiency of the administration. He expressed confidence that the State government would respond favourably to their demand.
